Zixiao Ye, known online as Lazypianist, is a pianist and composer who began his musical journey at six under the guidance of his father. Blending emotional storytelling with classical technique, he now shares his work with a global audience, reaching over 150,000 monthly listeners on Spotify.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Q1. Congratulations on winning the MUSE Design Awards! Can you introduce yourself and share about what inspired you to pursue design as a career?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

In my childhood, there wasn\u2019t really a place I could call \u201chome\u201d. No fixed place to stay, and no place where I truly belonged. Up until I started my own interior design business, and even now, every step along the way has helped me deeply understand that great design is the magic that turns a house into a home because it brings a strong sense of belonging rather than just being a physical space.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I discovered my passion for interior design while creating my own space. I also love seeing how I can help people complete their life stories and fulfil their dreams through my designs. This is what has brought me to where I am today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Q2. What does being recognized in the MUSE Design Awards mean to you?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is the most significant recognition of my career so far as an interior designer. Winning a gold plaque at this competition is a tremendous honour, especially as Italy is considered the cradle of interior design worldwide. That\u2019s what makes this award so meaningful to me \u2014 it adds real value to my work, fuels my creative energy, and motivates me to grow even further.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Q3. How has this achievement impacted your career, team, or agency, and what opportunities has it brought so far?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Having established a clear direction for myself and my team, we will focus even more on the creative development of our work moving forward.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Q4. What role does experimentation play in your creative process? Can you share an example?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

When it comes to experimental design and material applications, I\u2019m often the initiator\u2014eagerly sharing my ideas with the construction team. In one project, I envisioned a semi-height TV wall that would be slim, distinctive, and serve as a visual focal point of the space.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I brought this idea to life using curved panels combined with grille slats, creating a design that appeared simple at first glance but was rich in detail. The result not only enhanced the living room\u2019s presence but also exceeded the client\u2019s expectations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Q5. What’s the most unusual source of inspiration you’ve ever drawn from for a project?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

I once drew design inspiration from a dream. In the dream, I walked into a house and entered a hallway with symmetrically placed windows on both sides. At the far end of the corridor was a door, and in the middle stood a gracefully curved screen\u2014its height and width shifting as I moved. Suddenly, the space began to distort; everything started to morph in rhythm\u2014doors, windows, screens, and floors transformed collectively into ovals, squares, and circles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It felt as though the space was demonstrating its versatility, evoking a range of emotions. That dream later inspired me to incorporate square elements into the design of a client\u2019s home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
