Congratulations on winning the MUSE Design Awards! Can you introduce yourself and share about what inspired you to pursue design as a career?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br>Hi, I\u2019m Weilong Gao. I currently lead the design for TikTok\u2019s subscription product, where I help millions of creators build sustainable income through their content. At the same time, I\u2019m deeply passionate about education equity. That\u2019s why I also co-created WisdomPlan, an AI-powered education platform that makes personalized learning free and accessible for self-learners around the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For me, design is more than visual problem-solving\u2014it\u2019s a way to bridge gaps between people and opportunities. Whether it&#8217;s helping creators monetize their passions or supporting students in underserved regions, I see design as a tool to create impact across both commercial and social domains. That sense of purpose is what drew me to design, and it&#8217;s what continues to drive my work today.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Q2. What does being recognized in the MUSE Design Awards mean to you?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s a meaningful recognition that affirms our belief in using design to serve a broader social impact. It validates our belief that the challenges WisdomPlan aims to solve\u2014educational inequality and accessibility\u2014are real and worth tackling with thoughtful, user-centered design.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Q3. How has this achievement impacted your career, team, or agency, and what opportunities has it brought so far?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The award has helped bring visibility to WisdomPlan and opened up new conversations with educators, institutions, and technologists who are also passionate about affordable learning. It has also strengthened our confidence in continuing to invest in design that delivers long-term societal value.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Q4. What role does experimentation play in your creative process? Can you share an example?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Experimentation is at the heart of how WisdomPlan was built. We continuously tested how users interacted with AI-generated learning paths.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Through multiple iterations, we refined the one-click study plan generation and AI tutor interface, ensuring they were intuitive and engaging\u2014especially for self-learners unfamiliar with traditional study methods.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Q5. What&#8217;s the most unusual source of inspiration you&#8217;ve ever drawn from for a project?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Design is not just about aesthetics\u2014it\u2019s about solving the right problem with intention and clarity. Whether I\u2019m designing monetization features for millions of creators on TikTok or building personalized learning experiences in WisdomPlan, every design decision\u2014from system flow to button placement\u2014is grounded in user behavior and accessibility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At TikTok, I\u2019ve learned how small design details can directly influence creator income and user trust. That experience shaped my approach to WisdomPlan, where I focused on lowering the learning curve for self-learners\u2014especially those with limited digital literacy.
