Ilida Alvarez is the founder and CEO of Alvarez Dispute Resolution, a women-led firm redefining how conflict resolution is approached. A full-time mediator and strategic leader, she heads a 20-person team offering mediation, arbitration, and special master services with a focus on inclusion, mentorship, and wellness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Q1. Congratulations on your achievement in the TITAN Women In Business Awards! Could you tell us a bit about yourself and your role, as well as your business or organization?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

I have led Light Source Communications (LSC) as Chief Executive Officer since co-founding the company with Pete Empie Sr., our CSO and President, in 2014. I oversee business development, strategic planning, and customer relationships, as well as lead the executive team.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

LSC is a network owner-operator serving global hyperscalers and enterprise customers in key U.S. markets. As a carrier-neutral, customer-agnostic provider, LSC is transforming the digital landscape with cutting-edge dark fiber solutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Q2. Winning such a prestigious award is a milestone for many. How did you feel when you first learned about your win, and what does this recognition mean to you personally or professionally?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Honestly, I was a little caught off guard but very honored. It feels amazing to be recognized by my peers, especially after spending so much of my career out of the limelight. I\u2019m grateful and humbled.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Having my work acknowledged in this way is deeply meaningful. It makes me proud not just for myself, but for everyone who has been part of the journey.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Q3. What inspired you to submit your entry for this competition, and what aspects of your submission made you feel confident it could stand out?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The timing felt right for both me and LSC to put ourselves out there. We\u2019ve built an incredible team and are doing truly exciting work in the market right now. I\u2019m proud of what we\u2019re accomplishing and felt this was the moment to step forward and share it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Receiving this recognition affirmed that we\u2019re heading in the right direction, and it\u2019s exciting to see LSC gaining this kind of visibility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Q4. Is there a particular moment in your career or business journey that you consider a turning point? How did it shape your path to this achievement?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

A major turning point for LSC\u2014and for me personally\u2014was when we took on metro rings in key markets, including Tulsa, Oklahoma; Las Vegas, Nevada; and Phoenix, Arizona. That shift pushed us beyond our comfort zone and forced us to scale quickly. It required building a new kind of team and putting critical infrastructure in place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The market itself was at a transformative moment, and everything we\u2019d done up to that point felt like preparation for this leap. It wasn\u2019t always easy. We faced hurdles, a lack of market recognition, and the added challenge of my being a woman CEO in a male-dominated industry. But we kept moving forward.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In hindsight, we were unknowingly preparing for this very moment\u2014with the rise of artificial intelligence and other high-performance computing technologies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Q5. Were there significant obstacles you faced along the way, and how did you or your team overcome them to reach this success?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Absolutely. Expanding into metro networks brought a host of challenges, especially navigating various agreements and working with local and state governments. It\u2019s been a learning curve, but our team has done a fantastic job adapting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We\u2019ve been intentional about bringing in strong talent and recognizing where support is needed. Growth doesn\u2019t come without growing pains, but we\u2019ve remained proactive and resilient throughout.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
