Q1. Congratulations on winning the MUSE Design Awards! Can you introduce yourself and share about what inspired you to pursue design as a career?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

My name is Shuoqi Xiong, and I\u2019m an architectural designer with over seven years of professional experience focused on sustainable design, including green building, adaptive reuse, and historic preservation projects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What inspired me to pursue architecture was the realization that buildings are not just objects\u2014they\u2019re ecosystems. Architecture is a medium for dialogue\u2014with the earth, water, wind, and people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For me, sustainable practice isn\u2019t an add-on; it\u2019s embedded in how we think about materials, energy, culture, and our relationship with nature. That\u2019s what keeps me engaged and inspired every day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Q2. What does being recognized in the MUSE Design Awards mean to you?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Being recognized by the MUSE Design Awards is a tremendous honor. MUSE is known globally for celebrating creativity, innovation, and excellence across design disciplines, so being acknowledged by such a respected platform is deeply meaningful to me. It affirms the value of sustainable, community-driven design and reinforces the belief that architecture can be both visionary and responsible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Q3. How has this achievement impacted your career, team, or agency, and what opportunities has it brought so far?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

It has been a milestone that brought renewed energy and validation to my practice. Since the recognition, I\u2019ve connected with other like-minded designers and gained greater exposure to international platforms. This recognition not only validates the direction of my work but also inspires me to keep pushing for ideas that connect people, place, and purpose in thoughtful ways.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Q4. What role does experimentation play in your creative process? Can you share an example?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Experimentation is at the core of my creative process \u2014 it\u2019s how ideas evolve from abstract concepts into thoughtful designs. In my winning project, Trunk Cabin, for example, I explored dozens of form variations and material strategies to balance conceptual expression, constructability, and sustainability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Q5. What’s the most unusual source of inspiration you’ve ever drawn from for a project?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Shark skin was one of my starting points for designing a building facade that emphasizes fluidity and elegance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
