Q1. Congratulations on your achievements in the NY Digital! Could you start by introducing yourself or your agency? Can you also share a bit about your journey into your current industry?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n We are the team behind TechHerAI, a nonprofit initiative focused on supporting women\u2014particularly recent graduates\u2014pursuing careers in the tech industry. The inspiration for TechHerAI came from seeing how layoffs and competitive hiring practices have disproportionately affected underrepresented groups in tech. What inspired you to submit your work for this competition, and what does winning mean to you personally and professionally?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n We submitted TechHerAI to the NY Digital Awards because it stands for more than just technical innovation\u2014it\u2019s a purpose-driven initiative aimed at breaking down real barriers faced by women in tech. As layoffs and hiring freezes spread across the field, we witnessed talented individuals being overlooked due to limited access, confidence, or guidance. That\u2019s what moved us to take action.<\/p>\n\n\n\n We built TechHerAI to help close that gap. Rather than relying on costly coaching or fragmented online advice, we developed intelligent, accessible tools\u2014powered by AI\u2014that simulate real interviews, generate tailored cover letters, and match users with relevant job opportunities. What do you believe set your project apart in such a competitive field? Were there specific elements or strategies that made it shine?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n We weren\u2019t just addressing a broad challenge; we focused on a timely and specific issue: helping women enter the tech industry during one of the most difficult job markets in recent memory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Several core elements helped distinguish our project:<\/p>\n\n\n\n –Purpose-driven design<\/strong>: Every feature\u2014from mock interviews and cover letter generation to curated job listings\u2014was created to directly address challenges women face when pursuing tech careers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n –Sophisticated AI implementation<\/strong>: We fine-tuned large language models using supervised learning and reinforcement learning with human feedback (RLHF), ensuring outputs were relevant, refined, and aligned with real-world hiring practices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n –Global accessibility and scalability<\/strong>: Leveraging FastAPI and Hugging Face, we built a high-performance platform that is free, user-friendly, and accessible worldwide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n At its heart, TechHerAI stands out because of the synergy between mission and execution\u2014a meaningful social vision supported by robust engineering.<\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/p>\n\n\n\n Q5. Every project has its challenges. Can you share a significant obstacle you faced during this process and how you overcame it?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n One of our biggest challenges was the lack of real-world interview data to fine-tune our model. High-quality, domain-specific data is essential for building effective NLP systems, but actual interview transcripts and feedback are rarely available due to privacy and confidentiality issues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n To address this, we used a two-pronged strategy. First, we collected publicly shared interview experiences and feedback from forums and professional networking sites. Second, we employed AI to generate synthetic yet realistic interview scenarios across a variety of roles and experience levels. We then used these datasets to fine-tune existing models through supervised learning and reinforcement learning with human feedback (RLHF).<\/p>\n\n\n\n This approach significantly enhanced the semantic accuracy and fluency of our AI-generated responses, resulting in more realistic and supportive mock interview experiences for users.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Winning Entry <\/p>\n\n\n\n
