Please give us a brief bio of yourself and your design background.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I am Xudong Zhu, an architect and urban designer passionate about creating spaces that connect people, nature, and culture. Consequently, I hold a Master of Architecture in Urban Design from Harvard GSD, where I was awarded third place in a design competition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Before that, I earned a Master of Science in Architecture through a dual-degree program between Tongji University and Politecnico di Milano. Professionally, I co-founded T.E.N and OnLand Studio, where I lead projects that merge sustainability and innovation. Additionally, my designs often integrate historical contexts with modern needs, aiming to inspire creativity and inclusivity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Therefore, through my work, I strive to redefine how architecture fosters social engagement and environmental harmony.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Q2. What made you become\/why did yuo choose to become a designer\/artist?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>My passion for creativity began at a young age, eventually leading<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>My journey into design stemmed from a fascination with how spaces shape human experiences. Growing up in China, I witnessed the rapid transformation of urban landscapes and the tension between heritage and modernization.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Henceforth, this inspired me to pursue architecture as a means to balance tradition with progress. Design, to me, is a language that bridges people and their environments, and I find immense fulfillment in crafting spaces that evoke emotion, foster connection, and contribute to a sustainable future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>me to pursue a degree in design. At T.E.N, we focus on creating spaces that merge functionality, sustainability, and cultural significance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Moreover, my role involves leading diverse projects, ranging from urban masterplans to commercial and public spaces, where I oversee concept development, design strategies, and team collaboration. Our approach emphasizes a deep understanding of each project&#8217;s unique context\u2014whether it\u2019s reimagining an old industrial site, as in the Anji Youth Pulse Center, or crafting visionary masterplans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We strive to push the boundaries of architecture, combining bold ideas with practical solutions to create spaces that are not only visually striking but also deeply engaging and sustainable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Q4. What does design mean to you?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Design is the art of problem-solving through creativity and empathy. It goes beyond aesthetics, shaping how people interact with spaces and their surroundings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To me, design is a tool for storytelling, a way to merge functionality with beauty, and a means to improve lives while respecting the environment. Therefore, it is a continuous dialogue between vision and reality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Q5. What&#8217;s your favorite kind of design and why?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I am particularly drawn to designs that harmonize natural and built environments, such as eco-friendly architecture and public spaces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These designs resonate with me because they embody sustainability, foster community engagement, and create timeless connections between people and their surroundings.
