Jason Wilkinson, founder of Qwickhose, brings over 30 years of hands-on experience in carpentry. And property development to solving everyday challenges with innovative, user-focused design. Driven by a passion for practical problem-solving, he collaborated with an industrial design team to create Qwickhose. A modern solution to outdated hose connectors, blending functionality and simplicity to meet real-world needs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Q1<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Hi, I\u2019m Jason Wilkinson, the founder of Qwickhose. My background is rooted in carpentry and later I moved into property development. I have always had a keen interest in solving practical problems through innovative ideas. My background has honed this skill further. Having spent over 30 years problem-solving on construction sites, it is something that has become second nature to me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Qwickhose emerged from a frustration with traditional hose connectors that hadn’t evolved in over 50 years. While I don\u2019t have formal training in product design, my practical experience and resilience have shaped my approach. I worked closely with an industrial design team to bring my vision for Qwickhose to life. Ensuring every aspect met both practical and aesthetic goals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Inventors, creators, and problem-solvers who dared to try something new. Their boldness to innovate, fail, and succeed has always been a source of motivation. For example, James Dyson, who developed 5127 prototypes before landing on the winning design of the bagless vacuum cleaner we all know today\u2014if that isn\u2019t perseverance, I don\u2019t know what is.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Q2<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

I never set out to be a designer in the traditional sense, I fell into it by trying something new. As it isn\u2019t a field I\u2019m formally train in the design process was completely new to me. However my practical problem-solving skills naturally evolved and kicked into action quickly. I\u2019ve always been driven by the desire to solve problems and improve everyday experiences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The ability to take an idea from conception and transform it into something tangible, functional. And impactful felt like something that would be incredibly rewarding (it was)! Design has allowed me to combine creative ideas with practicality. And I\u2019m inspire by the opportunity to create solutions that have an impact on people\u2019s lives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To me, design, at its core, should feel like a natural extension of the task or surrounding it\u2019s designed for. I believe design should be simple, functional, and user focused. Addressing a specific need or problem while being intuitive and enjoyable to use. Design doesn\u2019t demand attention; it earns trust through its effectiveness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Networking is invaluable, and studying the design of brands you admire for inspiration. Engage with communities to seek out feedback and learn from the successes and failures of others. Collaboration is a great tool for growth\u2014don\u2019t hesitate to ask for help, embrace feedback, and keep an open mind.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
