Argiope aemula is a species of spider that originates mainly in southeast Asia. While being a native of the region, these spiders are often found near human settlements and they prefer woodland in sunny locations where there are flowers, shrubby, and plants to give them protection. Lin Chun-chung’s photograph of “The spider” successfully captured its unique features and characteristics in nature.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In his image “The spider” viewers can see the intricate web. That has sprung together a stabilimentum more commonly known as web decorations. These web decorations have a subject of debate, many have wondered about the true purpose of these decorations. Some have even speculated they function as support for the spider hence the name, while some speculate it was to make the web visible. And therefore animals such as birds are less likely to damage the spider’s web.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

P2<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Lin Chun-chung’s photograph was masterfully captured as it presents a unique scene where the spider is in a position where it doubled up its eight legs and spread out like an X on the web. While some spiders possess the same characteristics as the Argiope aemula. Nevertheless it is a sight that many would not be able to witness naturally.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

His careful shot of the image using a predominant green hue and palette highlights the subject’s details and intricate web decorations. The spider, commonly in green is seen atop its web decorations. That resemble a green orb that may be a reflection of its silk on green vegetation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The macro shot by Lin Chun-chung reminds us that nature has its way of making even the smallest and most mundane things into subjects of beauty. Winning him the Platinum Winner award for the 2024 European Photography Awards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
