Andrew Watson is the founder and Creative Director of Watson Design Inc. – a boutique trophy Design Studio specializing in the custom creation of unique hand-crafted awards and trophies. Initially established in 2009, Andrew has built the business into a talented team of 11 and now\u00a0dedicates his days to building positive client relationships, managing quality control, and meticulously focusing on design details.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Q1. Please give us a brief bio of yourself and your background.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

My name is Andrew and I am the sole founder of Andrew Watson Design and spends my days building positive client relationships, managing quality control and agonizing over design details.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When I’m not in the studio, I can be found in the mountains either snowboarding or mountain biking. When I get the opportunity, I will spend my time in the ocean surfing or travelling the world in search of great food and more importantly, great coffee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Q3. Tell us more about your business\/company, job profile and what you do.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The award-winning business was founded in 2009 by myself after I completed my Masters degree in Industrial Design. Back then, it was just me and my laptop in Australia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2012, I moved the business to Vancouver and the business grew very quickly and we have since moved twice, each time to larger locations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Q4. What does \u201cdesign\u201d mean to you?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Design means something purposeful. Not to make things but to find ways to incorporate meaning into products. Why we make things the way they are.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Q5. What\u2019s your favorite kind of design and why?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Timeless, simplistic and ispirational.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Q6. To you, what makes a \u201cgood\u201d design?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

From school, we were taught to find a story behind what we are trying to achieve. Good design is not to mass produce but to find ways to better the product.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
