David Mateo Gonzalez is a pharmacist and clarinet teacher who loves special effects and has studied digital composition. He is now preparing for the Nuke Certified Trainer and his biggest inspiration is drawn from cinema.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Q1. Please give us a brief bio of yourself and your background.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

I’m David Mateo. I live in a town called Moncada in Valencia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I’m a pharmacist and clarinet teacher. I’ve always loved special effects. I started auditions at the end of the year making chromas with my students and adding effects, as I liked. I did a master’s degree in VfX at CICE. In the masters, I saw that I liked composition. I graduated in Digital Composition at Animun Creative Advanced School. I took advanced composition courses in Gnomon, Rebelway.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I am currently preparing for the Nuke Certified Trainer with my mentor Victor Perez.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Q2. What made you become\/why did you choose to become a digital designer\/artist?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

What has made me the most successful digital artist is cinema. I am an admirer of the Lord of the Rings saga. I have always loved the effects of these films, as well as George Lucas’ films, the Star Wars saga.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Q3. Tell us more about your business\/company, job profile, and what you do.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now I’m a freelancer. Although I would like to work in a large studio, I have participated as a Digital composer this year, in films like Mercy Land and Swap, very enriching projects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Q4. What\u2019s your favorite kind of digital design and why?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The challenges are enormous, with each scene presenting significant technical complexity. I have dedicated countless hours to pursuing my passion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

My favorite scene is the opening one, titled ‘Harrots,’ inspired by ‘El Papel de la Navidad,’ an advertisement by ‘El Corte Ingl\u00e9s.’ It boasts both impressive technical and artistic intricacies, encompassing the most advanced composition techniques.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The entire stage is brought to life through 3D projections, featuring elements such as spheres, the Animun logo, and particles skillfully crafted with Nuke, a staple composition program in the film and entertainment industry. However, the true essence of this scene lies in creating a sense of realism, achieved through careful attention to lighting to evoke a truly enchanting ambiance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Q5. To you, what makes a \u201cgood\u201d design?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Always say the same thing. The most important thing is that your design or composition provokes feelings in people. That’s really interesting. People must perceive what you have created, for your work to make sense.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Q6. Describe your design style and its main characteristics.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

I like to innovate my designs, try new techniques, and make the difficult simple. I try to see a lot of references and trends. I get a lot of inspiration from going to museums and seeing many operas. It’s a way to see different styles and create what you like the most. In my case, always elements that provoke a certain feeling in the people who see my compositions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
