Please give us a brief bio of yourself and your creative background.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n My name is Shay Grinstein, I\u2019m the co-founder, along with my life partner – Keren, and creative officer at Yugo & Art.<\/p>\n\n\n\n I consider myself extremely lucky and grateful for being able to incorporate my two big passions in life, design & music into my career.<\/p>\n\n\n\n For the last 3 decades I\u2019ve been providing visual solutions, branding services and art direction to companies all over the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Q2. What made you become\/why did you choose to become a creative?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n I guess I always knew how to tell a story using both sounds and visuals and the fact that I\u2018ll make a terrible hairdresser or lawyer, just made my decision easier.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Q3. Tell us more about your business\/company, job profile, and what you do.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Basically, Yugo and Art is a multidisciplinary creative agency, we provide a wide-angle perspective on design meaning we help our clients tell their stories using visual solutions. My job as a creative director is to lead our team of designers find the right story before packing it with the visual wrapping.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Q4. What does \u201ccreativity\u201d mean to you?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n I always thought of creativity as a muscle you need to nourish and develop.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Something that we all have but just like professional athletes \u2013 we chose to empower.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Q5. To you, what makes a \u201ccreative\u201d idea and\/or design?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n I think it\u2019s all a question of context and timing but for me, it\u2019s always about giving a solution that looks so simple and easy that the first response to it will be \u2013 \u201cWhy didn\u2019t I think of that?\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Q6. Tell us about your creative and\/or design process.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Since we are a business-oriented studio and not just \u201cplease make it look nicer\u2026\u201d type of designers \u2013 we work in a very systematic almost academic way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n We understand that we need to help a client sell a product or a service so questions like \u201cWhat does he, our client, get out of it?\u201d or \u201cWill it increase his sells?\u201d are always in the background.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Our process always starts with a full background research. We like to create a timeline of our end user\u2019s journey \u2013 Let\u2019s say we are working on a project for a boutique hotel: the user\u2019s journey starts sitting next to the computer, browsing through \u201ctripAdvisor\u201d or \u201cbooking.com\u201d and ends at home, after his safe return. Only then we continue to the next step – mapping all points of interaction with the user. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Q7. What’s your favorite part of the creative process and why?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n In every successful project, there is a fraction of a second that you understand that you nailed it, that you were able to tie all the loose ends \u2013 that moment is priceless.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Q8. Describe your creative style and its main characteristics.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Clean, Minimal, Humoristic, Functional – Story Driven.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Q9. Do you think your country and its cultural heritage has an impact on your creativity process?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n I think that the fact that my country is multicultural, one that combines rich history with modern living had a large impact on me as a creator, shaped me as a designer and helped assemble my studio\u2019s heterogenic team of talented individuals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Q10. Congratulations! As the winner of the 2022 MUSE Creative Awards, what does it mean to you and your company and team to receive this award distinction?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n It\u2019s always nice to be appreciated especially when it comes from a professional, an outsider \u2013 someone who wasn\u2019t part of the process that can judge with an un-biased eye. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Q11. Can you explain a bit about the winning work you entered into the 2022 MUSE Creative Awards, and why you chose to enter this project?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Urban Playground is a brand-new entertainment concept of the competitive socializing global trend. Located in Manchester, UK and act as an indoor venue for young adults. Our studio was hired to create the brand strategy and visual communication through all visitors\u2019 interactions, and to provide art direction for all visible interfaces and platforms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n This project, besides being so much fun to deal with \u2013 gave us a great opportunity to showcase all of our studio\u2019s capabilities. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Q12. What was the biggest challenge with this project?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n The combination of playground and adults, mini-golf and alcohol, not necessarily sounds like an exact match, so the biggest challenge was to create an adult visual language that will appeal to our users and position the brand as a leader in his field. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Q13. How has winning an Award developed your practice\/career?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Any kind of award can spice-up your resume. Winning an international award, such as \u201cthe Muse\u201d is like giving your team \u201ca pat on the back\u201d and the recognition for his hard work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Q14. What are your top three (3) favorite things about our industry?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n 1. The freedom to experiment<\/p>\n\n\n\n 2. The diversity of opportunities<\/p>\n\n\n\n 3. The Globalization<\/p>\n\n\n\n Q15. What makes your country specifically, unique in the creative industry?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n I think that in general, we are very creative people. Our history and day-to-day life taught us to think fast and to adjust.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Q16. Where do you see the evolution of creative industry going over the next 5-10 years?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Since technology is allowing every freelance sitting next to a computer in a small coffee-shop, create amazing visuals; the storytelling, the idea behind the image is going to be way more important than its aesthetics \u2013 at least to my opinion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Q17. If you were a student entering this industry or an aspiring MUSE Creative Awards submitter, what advice would you give them?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Play with it, have fun.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Q18. What resources would you recommend to someone who wants to improve their skills in the creative industry?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Keep your eyes open, amazing design surround us everywhere we go.<\/p>\n\n\n\n I know it is kind of a clich\u00e9 but go to museums, any kind, anywhere.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Q19. Tell us something you have never told anyone else.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n I had the same mousepad with me for 20 years! (Just for luck) It even travelled with me when I worked overseas \u2013 But now I retired him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Q20. Who has inspired you in your life and why?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n My parents had an enormous impact on me, as a person, as a father and as a creator.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Q21. What is your key to success? Any parting words of wisdom?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n It\u2019s good to get jealous of other creators, the secret is to know your strengths and use them wisely.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Q22.
