It\u2019s not an uncommon sight to see a drone nowadays. Flying across the air fifty feet above you. Today, aerial toys like these can range from smaller models piloted by young children. To larger ones for filmmakers and cinematographers, to the more expensive and state of the art ones for commercial industries. And finally to the lightweight and fast speed demons zipping in between obstacles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The advent of aerial drone technology means that there is a make and model developed by brands all over the globe to serve multiple purposes. Case in point, world-leading manufacturer of camera technology and lenses have managed to merge the usage of LiDAR technology with drones. Creating the next-generation and first-of-its-kind personal UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) used to inspect buildings!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dubbed the BLK2FLY, it is developed by Leica Geosystems as part of the Leica BLK line of products. The drone is specifically built for industrial purposes with the usage of LiDAR technology. The thought and care taken in designing the BLK2FLY drone ultimately resulted in a modern, sleek and lightweight drone of the future. Scanning building of all shapes and sizes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The body of the drone is forged to be minimalistic and as lightweight as possible with advanced materials. Sporting only electronics such as lighting strips, the propellers, and cameras found in all corners of the body. A total of five onboard cameras is located all around the drone. Giving a full 360-degree visual coverage for the user to look around. The main camera is found at the very front of the BLK2FLY drone which holds the LiDAR sensor that detects every nook, cranny and crack of the subject.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The BLK2FLY drone is also an incredibly easy tool to operate as well. Individuals who are operating the drone do not need to have any prior experience to operating aerial drones other than a UAV pilot\u2019s license. All the operator needs to do is to utilize the software used to control the drone and with a few taps on the tablet of choice, and the drone will proceed to scan the entirety of its subject on a pre-determined flight path or manually set by the operator.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
