The iconic Odeon of Herod Atticus, bathed in the golden light of the Athenian sunset, became the extraordinary stage for Louis Vuitton's latest High Jewelry collection, "Deep Time." But the magic didn't end there. Lighting designer Eleftheria Deko & Associates wove a captivating narrative with light, transforming the ancient amphitheater into a breathtaking canvas for the dazzling jewels.
Reversing Expectations: Where the Stage Met the Audience
Imagine a fashion show where the catwalk snakes through the audience, and guests sit on the stage. This innovative setup presented a unique challenge for the lighting team. They had to ensure the jewelry shone brightly while maintaining the intimacy and awe-inspiring atmosphere of the venue.
A Symphony of Light: Spotlighting Jewelry and Architecture
To illuminate the exquisite jewelry pieces, custom-designed ring lights were worn by performers. These innovative fixtures emitted soft, diffused light, highlighting every facet of the gemstones without harsh shadows. Additionally, miniature spotlights accentuated specific details, making the jewels truly sparkle.
But the magic wasn't limited to the models. Powerful moving head spotlights danced across the ancient marble, highlighting the intricate textures and architectural details of the Odeon. This interplay of light and shadow created a dynamic backdrop that transported the audience through time and space.
From Birth of Light to a Prismatic Finale
The show's emotional climax saw the emergence of Aphrodite from a luminous shell, bathed in a concentrated spotlight. As she transformed, reflecting fragments of light across the amphitheater, the scene became a mesmerizing underwater fantasy.
