Architecture photography has been a long and inviting journey within the industry, where individuals focus on illustrating their spectacular elements.
In the 2022 London Photography Awards, the overwhelming amount of entries have included those who present their different exhibitions of the buildings that loom over corners across varied cities. Hence, here are a few magnificent architecture imageries that won a Platinum Award under their names.
Sittin' On The Dock Of The Bay | Deryk Baumgärtner
Deryk managed to capture a reimagination of a single scene from the movie “The Perfect Storm”, serving as a backdrop for one of his absolute favorite photos from the Northern Lights trip this year. The image depicts the roar of the wild sea, with hurricane-like and breezing cold winds alongside whipping snow and northern lights together in a single photograph. Everything shimmers through for a short time, representing a combination of situations that one will rarely experience throughout their entire life.
Stormy Seas | Anna Wacker
Taken in Hamburg, Germany, Anna instills life within the image, taking up the concept of architecture imitating transformations of nature. Utilising her visions, Hamburgs’ renowned concert hall, the Elbphilharmonie, has been captured forever within her photograph. Putting together a structure of grandeur, it represents photographical brilliance, and the entire roof resembles waves of a stormy sea.
The Adam Dome | Douglas Vernimmen
Situated within the General Register House of Edinburgh is The Adam Dome, a mesmerizing dome that overshadows the entire building with elegant designs that lures your gaze in piece by piece. The General House was constructed by Robert Adam between the years 1774 and 1788, and served as the headquarters of the Nationals Archives of Scotland.
Helius | Franklin Neto
Portraying Lisbon in the year 2035, Franklin wanted to display an image where solar storms have taken over the solar system, and the once blue skies have been filled with green colors once seen only at extreme longitudes. Chaos has taken over the atmosphere of the planet due to the lack of electricity caused by storm damage, and communications are no longer possible since it was disrupted and corrupted. Even though this was a possible apocalyptic scenario, it was a fairly memorable scene and will only experience it once in a lifetime.
